Our students had so much fun at our play day events this week!

Thank you to Mr. St. Jean who organized a teddy bear picnic and sang some fun songs with our Kindergarten to Grade 2 students to end our week. Some students were a little disappointed there was no food at our “picnic” but had a lot of fun anyways!

Congratulations to our Grade 8’s who will be celebrating their Closing Ceremony tonight. Be proud of all you have accomplished and excited about what the future holds for you!

Safe and Caring Schools Week is off to a great start with our students in Grades 6-8 learning about how to be caring members of our school community. #safeandcaringschools

Our class pumpkins are ready to be judged. Which class will win??! Monday, during our dance, students will vote for their favourite pumpkin and the winning class will get a pizza party! We can’t wait to see who wins.

Ms Holmes is teaching our Grade 3 students about some of the daily chores our early European settlers had to do daily to feed their families. They had a lot of fun and enjoyed eating the fruits of their labour afterwards!

Congratulations to our Junior Boy Tripleball Team who placed first in their tournament yesterday! Thank you to Coach Lacey for all of her time coaching and convening the Whitby tournament.

Congratulations to our Senior Girls Volleyball team who placed 3rd in their tournament yesterday! A special thank you to their coaches Ms Kowalczyk and Mrs. Warren for their time working with the girls in practices and games.

Austin Theater Company performed Hairspray for our Gr 6-8 students today. An important story about the need for us to stand up for equity for all in our society. #Equity Great job Father Leo J. Austin!

Students are learning about #Blackhistory this month and racism. Our bulletin board shows how some comments hurt people on the inside with judgements based on how we look and don’t accurately reflect the individual. Comments on the outside of the body celebrate diversity.

St. Bernard hosts their very first Carnaval and we were lucky enough to have Bonhomme visit our school! Merci Mme Caputo and Mlle Holmes for all of your efforts to share a French Canadian tradition with our students #francais

Our St. Bernard Eco Club is continuing to beautify our yard while supporting butterfly habitats. A butterfly garden was created along our south fence line. Thank you Ms Holmes for working with our students and teaching them important lessons in ecological awareness.

Our Student Voice Council organized a successful cake walk. We have some very creative bakers in our community! Thank you Mme Caputo for leading our council in such a successful and yummy event.

A cherry tree was donated to St Bernard and now it is planted in our yard thanks to the hard work of our Earth club! Thank you Ms Holmes for your leadership and finding us a tree donor!#ECO2023
