🧿 Amino Acid Chains 🧿 Senior N5 Bio spent the first half of our double period collecting random DNA triplets and then determining which amino acid ‘bead’ it would code for. 🌈 S2 Light Topic 🌈 My lovely S2 class have been working on their Light topic, and today we investigated white light travelling through a prism. We made some rainbows, and tried to replicate the iconic Pink Floyd album cover - I think we nailed it 😎💿 St Andrew's Academy Science Department #Prism

🧪 Dilution 🧪 Mrs Young’s lovely 2N class were working hard creating serial dilutions with acids and alkalis! They did a great job!

👩🏻‍🔬 Science Club 👩🏻‍🔬 As it is now summer and the weather seems to have got the memo, we treated our science clubbers to some ice cream making! We used salt and ice to freeze cream, sugar and vanilla flavouring!🍦 We couldn’t forget the sprinkles - but that was just for fun! 🤪

🌱 Sampling Techniques 🌱 S4 (finally) tested several sampling techniques today. We used a transect line, with quadrats and multimeters to measure light, moisture and pH. We made sure to take errors into consideration, paying attention to wiping the probe and shadow casting🌞

🥼 Gel Electrophoresis 🥼 The Higher Biologists showed some excellent skills today when loading their gel. We successfully found out who ‘murdered’ Ronald Adair! Can you figure it out too? 🤔 W1 - Suspect 1 W2 - Suspect 2 W3 - Suspect 3 W4 - Suspect 4 W5 - Crime scene sample
