Tried out Epic's AI assistant for UE5. It's a bit droll, like a bureaucrat who already has a defined path for you to follow, but as it is trained on internal and main docs, that is kind of the point. I think it's a decent documentation parser and will be helpful to orient.

I'm finding I code in C++ with Unreal Engine purely to expose functionality to BP rather than for any performance reason. The blueprints are not the fastest kids on the block but are super convenient for game construction speed, a boon for small indie teams for sure. Compromises!

It's a shame EVGA went out of business due to Nvidia's margin abuse. They had such stellar support. My 780 TI developed a fault but they shipped me a brand new GTX 980 free of charge which was a little better to boot. What I'm reading these days, with these prices - a joke.

People should learn to go without. It's not so bad. Don't bother buying memory for a few years. Use your old computer longer. Same for GPUs. Works for me just fine, always has. You don't need to be fooled by marketing. An older GPU with upscaling still great.

Why is Musk moaning about EU fines when he said it himself that some ads could be delivered like regular posts. Too bad, the EU doesn't like dark patterns. No sympathy for it, or for Apple's behaviour either. Big money boys need to earn it honestly.

💾Actually now I've spent time on it, C++ in Unreal isn't painful at all. In fact it's really great best paired with BP. The indie that can straddle and love both worlds will get the most work done. It is a bit undocumented, so use Unreal Assistant or equivalent as docs.

Robert William Cummings A lot of what makes being proficient in C/C++ great for gamedev, combined with a fully open source game engine (or at least an engine you HAVE the source to), is not even modifying it, but UNDERSTANDING HOW IT WORKS.
