PARTS APPEAL

Our last parts appeal was hugely successful, multiple examples of what we need were offered! We’re looking for a remote oil filter for the Merlin engine to add to our parts for the firewall area. Does anyone have one? Andy Saunders 🇺🇦 Classic Warbirds

PARTS APPEAL

As the project looks at more of the systems for the restoration, we are appealing to anyone who might have a MkII Oxygen Economiser (6D/479). We need one to complete the reconnaissance oxygen system on AA810. Can you help? Andy Saunders 🇺🇦 The Damcasters - The Aviation History Podcast Classic Warbirds

SPITFIRE SUNDAY

Today we feature PR XI EN427 at RAF Benson. After a failed attempt to deliver to the Middle East, EN427 would eventually join 682 Sqn in Italy. The aircraft went missing on a sortie to Genoa on 29 August 1943. Classic Warbirds The Spitfire Society The Damcasters - The Aviation History Podcast

Today’s eclipse will mainly be seen in the USA bar a few glimpses on this side of the Atlantic, weather permitting. However, thanks to the high altitude flight of a RCAF PR Spitfire, here’s the 1945 eclipse, proving the versatility and capability of PR Spitfires!

Why we do, what we do. Remembering RAF photographic reconnaissance pilot Sandy Gunn today, murdered by the Nazis on 6th April 1944, aged just 24 after taking part in the Great Escape from Stalag Luft III.

TODAY IN 1944

Auschwitz was photographed by a PR Mosquito of 60 Sqn SAAF. The Allies decided the best intervention was a swift defeat of the Axis powers rather than any military action. A tough decision - what would you have done? Discuss…
