Memo to HS athletes and parents in the tri-region. Follow the pandemic protocols. Don't make the same mistake as some have outside our region. Conditioning is being allowed for a reason at some schools. Our numbers are low in our counties. Lets have a season.

As of today, the only sport that potentially could be held if given approval by the California Department of Public Health in terms of Season 1 (fall sports) for the CIF is cross country. A meeting will be held Jan. 4.

There's more promise for a spring season as golf, tennis, track and field and swimming and diving could be held, even while the county is in purple, if given approval by the California Department of Public Health. That season is slated to being in mid-March. Hold your breath

Other sports such as baseball, softball, lacrosse and field hockey would need to see the county move into the Red tier. Monterey County has been in purple since July

CCS commissioner David Grissom said that all sections agreed today to move cautiously forward, and wait until the California Department of Public Health meets on Jan. 4 to make any future decisions on sports.
