21st Sept CSA & CMO advised that UK could face 50,000 Covid cases by mid-Oct & 200 deaths/day by mid-Nov. These based on SAGE 'Reasonable Worst Case Scenario". Were widely derided at the time. Both have proved underestimates of true infections & deaths. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

Beyond the many failures in managing this health crisis, I'm struck by the sheer inability of the PM to credibly appeal to the values and virtues called for now: solidarity, justice, kindness, fortitude - to name just a few.
