There’s an effort underway to roll back Minnesota’s ban on noncompetes. These carve-outs would block healthcare workers & others from freely switching jobs. Important for MN lawmakers & Governor Tim Walz to reject this effort. A snapshot of how noncompetes have harmed Minnesotans:

I urge Ron DeSantis to veto the CHOICE Act. The bill would allow employers to issue noncompetes against their workers for as long as 4 years. Noncompetes lower wages, reduce the quality of patents, and slow down the creation of jobs and startups. sun-sentinel.com/2025/06/01/flo…

.Sam Peak’s op-ed in the South Florida Sun Sentinel calls out Florida’s new noncompete bill. “Far from fostering a business-friendly climate, this bill would undermine Florida’s entrepreneurial dynamism,” writes Peak. Read more here: sun-sentinel.com/2025/06/01/flo…

Florida’s CHOICE Act is a misnomer. By expanding noncompetes, it would limit choice for the Sunshine State’s workers and entrepreneurs. EIG and a growing coalition are calling on Governor DeSantis to veto the bill. eig.org/eig-urges-gove…

I'm troubled by my colleague's remarks about this morning's Sikh prayer, which have since been deleted. Throughout the country—and in the Central Valley— Sikh-Americans are valued and respected members of our communities, yet they continue to face harassment and discrimination.

This week, an op-ed in the NYT raised an interesting new critique of the Opportunity Zones incentive: it’s working in high-poverty areas ... but mainly ones that were already showing some signs of progress. A response thread…

This is such a damning indictment of blue city governance. Of course there is a backlash to things like spending >$1 million per unit of affordable housing. Taxpayers are getting totally ripped off.
