LOOKIE who I vanned home last night to begin his 60 day break at our farm after completion of initial race training and a bit of rehab. This magnificent beast of a 2 year old colt is Pocketful of Money by Goldencents, out of our stakes winning mare, Private Promise. Goldies❤️🏇

Southern Legacy Farm received over an inch of rain since last evening and we sure needed it! Beautiful rainbow when the rain ended and then a glorious sunset. Thanks to the Big Guy for the show (and the rain!).

There is just something about a beautiful sunset that makes my heart happy. This evening at Southern Legacy. God’s promise for better days and opportunities tomorrow in shades of red, yellow and dusky blue.

BIG WOW!! Our homebred, Mark’s Promise #4, just won the Delta Premier Sprint Championship tonight. Our mare, Private Promise, is proving just as productive as a Broodmare as she was as a Racehorse. Mark’s Promise is her 2nd foal (both debut winners) and MP has now won over $206k.

PUMPKIN! Cindy and I picked up my big boy, SLT Texas Fancy Pants, aka “Pumpkin”, in Pilot Point, TX on Valentine’s Day to bring him home. Lunged him for 15 minutes, rode him in the arena and then out on their obstacle trail. He grew up in so many ways,16+ hands and 1100+ pounds!

First Fishing Day of the Spring! Took off a few hours early from farm duties this afternoon to join a good friend on an adjoining landowner’s small lake. Caught lots of bass including this 7 pound 14 oz lunker!!

SLT Texas Fancy Pants (Pumpkin) after noticing I just moved in 3 cute yearling fillies in the next door paddock. Told me “Thanks Dad!!”

On the way to locking our gates on the western side of our thoroughbred farm this evening, I had to stop and admire God’s handiwork. A beautiful sunset is good for the heart and makes the day’s hard work so worth it.

Beginning of a rainbow taken from one of the back entrances to our farm after today’s rains. We are getting more rain the next several days. Strange to say in Texas but we are a bit waterlogged with tall hay in the meadows we can’t cut and bale because the fields are too muddy.

Our homebred filly, Thousand Angels,made us proud in winning her maiden special race at Louisiana Downs on Memorial Day. She is by Thousand Words and out of Angel of Gettysburg, a daughter of our Champion Grand Facile. Big thanks to trainer, David Gomez and jockey Alex Batista 🏇

I don’t often post race videos of horses I don’t own but I am a huge fan of Mystik Dan. Actually I am just as big a fan of his sire, Goldencents, and have bred one of my mares to him almost every year. Goldencents will get your mare a winner and sometimes a GSW or a Derby winner!

MYSTIK DAN will stand at Airdrie Stud upon conclusion of his racing career! Looks like I will be sending some mares to Airdrie! I think Dan’s combination of speed and staying power will be exactly what my breeding program needs. Best wishes for the remainder of 2025!!
