It is concerning that Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone has apparently signed off on a highly problematic EIA report and granted an environmental licence for a project in an ecologically sensitive area. That decision needs to be revisited.
Analysis by WFP Sierra Leone of the Peninsular Park from Nov '22 to April '23 show forest cover loss or degradation of some 195 ha. Total vegetation loss across the park is 580 ha.
