On Wed 4th September, the LL of Somerset, his Vice and Jennifer Duke DL, along with representatives from Bristol and Glos Lieutenancies, visited Police HQ at Portishead. During a full day a detailed overview of Avon & Somerset policing strategy and operations was presented.

Sheila Wheeler DL: A hugely informative visit on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant to the Open Day for the Taunton Masonic Centre on Saturday. It was truly inspiring to hear about the level of fundraising and donations to local charities across Somerset over the course of 2023.

The Lord-Lieutenant presented Atlantas Marine of Yeovil with the King’s Award for Enterprise. Their sales growth over the years has been exceptional. The King’s Award for Enterprise is now in its 58th year and is considered the most prestigious business award in the country.

The Lord-Lieutenant attended the Wessex Reserves Forces and Cadets Association AGM and was confirmed as the President of the Association for the coming year.  He thanked both the Chair Robert Wharton and the Chief Executive Brigadier Neville Holmes for their work
