Some whopping rainfall totals appearing on forecast models over high ground of Wales during next few days. Unsurprisingly flood risk raised towards the weekend. Larger rivers may be affected this time. Stay tuned for updates.

Your year so far in - er - rainfall and soli moisture maps! Demonstrates the importance of the high soil moisture deficits in September in protecting us from widespread flooding from the record breaking October rain #geographyteacher #floodaware

Cheers to the weekend. It’s #worldkindnessday2020, take care of yourself and those around you... take time out... recharge! Today I caught a rainbow over our #allotment, a core part of Bristol’s #NatureRecoveryNetwork and a vital piece of my sanity! #wellbeingmatters

Parrett IDB controlling a highly invasive aquatic plant, floating pennywort, around Westonzoyland on the Somerset Levels. The machine was pressure washed after the operation to prevent transport to a new location. #biosecurity

Uncultivated buffer strips and a cover crop would be great for this field, and for fish and the protected wetland downstream. #SomersetLevels

Allermoor Spillway stopped running early this morning, we had teams out first thing opening Monksleaze to operate the SOWY FRC at maximum capacity, this allows us to commence pumping at Langport stations until spillways start to run again. Environment AgencySW

Biggest flood of the winter so far. Spillways running at full bore. But no real harm being done at this time of year. System working as it should ⁦Somerset Catchment Partnership⁩ ⁦Phil Brewin⁩ ⁦@levellerlive⁩

Very windy and wet conditions coming in. Field teams are making preparations and operating penstocks and tidal exclusion assets in advance of any coastal surge. Please stay away from coastal areas.

Oath Lock doors have closed diverting virtually all Parrett fluvial flows down the SOWY, this will ensure maximum capacity in the Parrett & Tone for any rainfall in the coming days. All pumping stations are at winter desired levels. Environment AgencySW

SRA partners preparing for Storm Eunice. The risk of inland flooding at locations like the Somerset Levels & Moors is currently judged to be low. The greatest risk is in coastal areas, eg of flooding from large waves. But difficult to forecast exactly so please everyone stay safe
