📢 NEW PAPER! Our new SOLSTICE-WIO paper is out, led by Dr Fatma Jebri at National Oceanography Centre "Unravelling links between squid catch variations and biophysical mechanisms in South African waters" doi.org/10.1016/j.dsr2…
Congratulations to our #SOLSTICEwio #ECR Kennedy Osuka & co-authors another publication 👏👏👏 Free access for 50 days sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
In this LATEST study in MarEnvironRes, we highlight some interesting interaction patterns between habitat and depth in shaping the abundance of #predatory reef fish off an oceanic #PembaIsland, Tanzania Bryce Stewart Peter Musembi Melita Samoilys Enjoy 50days free access authors.elsevier.com/a/1ecybW5UJJ-B0
How cool is this?! More Than Minutes for our #IndianOcean workshop with National Oceanography Centre & SOLSTICE-WIO colleagues 😆
Such a wonderful, colourful record of our meeting thanks More Than Minutes
We definitely 🐝 brought back the buzz 🐝 with our Indian Ocean Workshop this week National Oceanography Centre
Received digital copies of our visual minutes from our National Oceanography Centre #IndianOcean Workshop today Thanks More Than Minutes they are fantastic! Available to download along with other outreach materials from our website solstice-wio.org/outputs/solsti… #OceanDecade #OceanScience
Many congratulations to our #ECR Kennedy Osuka on passing his PhD viva 👏👏👏🥳🍾🥂

In a ground-breaking study, scientists from the NOC have used AI to understand the effects of the Agulhas Current on the productivity of upwelling regimes. 🌐 The study was conducted as part of SOLSTICE-WIO. Find out more about how it was done here 🆕 bit.ly/3MhwiCw
Very much looking forward to todays discussions on enabling and strengthening sustainable ocean economies CME Programme SOLSTICE-WIO ACCORDocean
Thank you International Seabed Authority for inviting me to present a statement this morning on women empowerment & leadership. I talked about the great capacity building activities conducted during SOLSTICE-WIO resulting in publications led by women scientists in the WIO region. National Oceanography Centre
Another SOLSTICE-WIO paper has been published by Bruggeman et al. who use process-based modelling to explore whether environmental variability explains variability in catch of the chokka squid off the Agulhas Bank, South Africa. Check it out here: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
My latest (& final 😭) paper from SOLSTICE-WIO is now fully available online 🥳, which uses #lagrangian #modelling to investigate #retention properties on the #Agulhas Bank, #SouthAfrica 🇿🇦 in relation to the chokka squid 🦑 species. Check it out here :D sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Delighted to be included in Hakai Institute’s long-form feature “The Autonomous Ocean” telling the story of the new generation of robots venturing into hurricanes, under ice shelves & into African seas—and changing the face of oceanography. National Oceanography Centre hakai.org/the-autonomous…
