Drinking on the run, find a sports drink with a taste you enjoy, although if your goal event offers a specific sports drink, practice with that drink. Not all sports drinks taste palatable to all runners, though I find that after about 10 miles everything tastes about the same.

If running the roads, always run facing traffic and wear bright-colored clothing so that you can be seen. If forced to run in the dark, wear reflective gear. Don't assume that a driver texting or talking on a cell phone will notice you no matter what you wear.
