Dear BBC News (UK) could you please stop saying how pleased we all are with continuing dry, sunny & hot weather? Our rivers & wetlands are dying & wildlife fading away. We need RAIN. It is good. You canโ€™t make the weather, but please stop saying global heating is a positive thing.

Having seen dogs die due to heat exhaustion, sometimes just because of a walk or a beach visit at the wrong time (for the dog) it's really not worth the risk.

Incredible sign-on within 5 hours from over 400 NGOs and businesses calling out the disastrous watering down of net zero policies by Rishi Sunak and the cost this represents to the country

Thank goodness for King Charles. Considering the deep peril faced by people & Nature itโ€™s encouraging that at least one world leader is articulating a fit for purpose perspective. His words galvanised action in Paris in 2015 & hopefully will again now. youtube.com/watch?v=8aPjcdโ€ฆ

See this important polling which shows watering down Labourโ€™s ยฃ28 billion a year green spending plans would clearly damage their prospect of winning the election - floating voters want change and they know a green future is the only hopeful future for their kids

One of my favourite outcomes of the year. Dottie was a few days away from dying of starvation when I removed her. Now, sheโ€™s loved, goes for walks, lies by the fire, has a best mate, goes to the pub. And sends her own Christmas Cards ๐Ÿ˜‚. Merry Christmas Dottie ๐ŸŽ… ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ

Why is the choice posed always food versus Nature? People canโ€™t eat grass, yet we have about 125,000 hectares under golf courses. Generally donโ€™t eat horses, but we spare about 500,000 hectares to feed them. For scale, Birmingham is about 26,000 hectares. telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/12/2โ€ฆ

Biodiversity Net Gain is mandatory from today. I was delighted to join Minister Rebecca Pow & Natural England colleagues at an event with partners to mark the moment. We went to the Belmont Estate in Somerset where new habitat creation will help meet demand from the new policy.

We welcome the announcement just made in Parliament by the UK Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, that a plan will be published by the summer aimed at accelerating the development, validation and uptake of alternative methods to replace the use of animals in science

Today is World Day for Animals in Laboratories. Over the past decade, an estimated +1 billion lab animals have been used globally. Much more needs to be done to reach a place where important science is done without causing suffering to sentient animals.

Tory manifesto out: Itโ€™s the most unambitious on climate action yet. Rishi Sunak has turned his nose up at the economic opportunity of the century. This failure will keep households hooked on high-cost gas and undermine our energy security. It is a manifesto for economic decline.
