In addition to offering access to the CrowdTangle API, Social Science One is also offering support to help researchers maximize the research benefit of the tool.

Social Science One is planning to partner with many survey organizations to connect survey data with Facebook information (with respondents’ consent, of course). This will enable researchers to connect online interactions with voting behavior, and unlock new areas of study.

Social Science One, in partnership with Innocent Chiluwa of Covenant University, is conducting pilot tests of our Facebook-integrated surveys in Nigeria.

One of the key challenges in building this new kind of survey is making sure respondents can give informed consent, understanding why we want to access their Facebook data and what we can and cannot do. To this end, we are working hard on the exact wording of the surveys.

We are excited to be working on this survey, which will offer unprecedented opportunity to connect online and real-world behaviors.
