We have returned from Nepal and delivered the pre-departure stages of our Reintegration Programme; preparing grade ten students for reuniting with their families when they graduate school in two months’ time. Our Programme supports young Himalayans through four vital stages.

Wearing the right equipment is paramount keeping the children warm, secure and steadfast for their treks through the Himalayan Mountains. Snowland Journeys bought this year’s graduates full technical clothing, expedition equipment & sunglasses to prevent snow blindness.

One of our first sessions encourages the children to work together in building their campsite. Such transferable skills are utilised on their journeys home and when they return to their home to help their families and villages, developing independent living skills.

The children discover their villages on a map & view local wildlife. Teaching about the environment & natural world to which their families are more closely aligned. The values of respect for nature & living things became greater as the reintegration sessions advanced.

Our film stars took part in practical parts of the Reintegration Programme. Their voice & presence drive fundamentals home & magnify team building. Personal stories develop cultural awareness & manage expectation. The contributions help children gain greatly from the experience.

Group expeditions are key to our Reintegration Programme and have proven an excellent way to improve the childrens independence, trust, communication and confidence. Team trekking mitigates risk and prepares our young people for the challenging journey ahead.

The 2022 Snowland Journeys Trek is complete. All trekkers are in Kathmandu for well deserved R&R. Most importantly this group supported 10 young people returning to families & communities. It's been an amazing few weeks. Now looking forward to planning our 2023 Dolpo trek.
