🇿🇼 Zimbabwe: To officers in intelligence and security services, including CIO, military & police. Nothing lasts forever. Impunity ends. Please focus on protecting the country from real security threats and stay away from the torture & murder of civilians. trialinternational.org/latest-post/al…

Impunity begets further atrocity. This template of politically motivated state-sponsored violence is many decades old. The only reason there has been no accountability is that perpetrators violently remain in power. One day that will change. As all things always change-- one day.

On one hand, I know Zanu PF has a sordid history of committing horrific atrocities, so I'm not surprised when it does. On the other hand, I'm baffled by how a govt craving global recognition & legitimacy would unleash an orgy of violence on the eve of hosting a regional summit.

Untouchable as perpetrators of abuse, atrocities & horror may seem in their prime, time for reckoning, accountability & justice for their crimes comes. Often unexpectedly, but always inevitably. Hold fast. Call out the atrocity. Record it. Document the identity of perpetrators.

It simply makes no sense to spend over $300m on "useless" infrastructure for a 2 day SADC Summit and then separately and immediately beg for food to feed millions facing hunger. Evidently, the despetate population matters the least to the Zimbabwean government.

We're such a depraved society Tere. We implicitly & explicitly encourage, condone abuse & exploitation of women & young girls by men through patriarchal attitudes, money, policies, law & institutions. A miscarriage. Sis Loice Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo & National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, please appeal this sentence.

It's clear enough, but problem is that no one believes or trusts the Constitutionalism argument when, on countless times - most notably a military coup- the Constitution has been ripped apart. If the army cld unconstitutionally stage a coup, a third term is nothing. Just saying.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the death of Robert Mugabe. I share my obituary written on the day he died. I would not change a word. theafricareport.com/17007/robert-m…
