Being an entrepreneur from humble beginnings I'm not just following someone else's plan. I'm forging my own path through life. Everyday I'm figuring out what works and what doesn't often through a thick fog of uncertainty.

For all the people spurning intellectualization in-place of gestalt impressions; I have to mount a bunch of network gear 20' up an I-Beam in a warehouse. Should I just go to the hardware store and grab the first thing I see or should I put some thought into the weight capacity of

It is our first job mounting a network rack to an I beam. We are planning to use 1-5/8 strut channels with spring nuts and threaded rods. Apparently the strut channels only come in 10' lengths on this side of the border but we only need 2' lengths. So we are going to take a saws

Me and "the mad scientist" got that U channel and cut it up with an 18 TPI sawsall blade. Like butter. Then we grinded down the ends to deburr them and coated them in black Tremclad to prevent corrosion of the exposed tips. He's on-site now mounting them to the I beams.

We got our I beam mounts for our rack set up and just waiting on our rack to arrive in the mail. It will just be a little 6U rack to support a 24-port PoE+ switch and a 600VA UPS. Nothing too fancy but enough to support 24 cameras in that part of the warehouse.

I have to figure out a way to pull voicemail recordings from RingCentral EX into Monday. My inclination is to use Power Automate to connect the services but I haven't worked with OAuth 2.0 on a Webhook before. So that will be something I have to figure out and the rest should be

I said to a new client "The easiest way would be for you to delegate access to us for your GoDaddy account and setup Granular Delegate Access Permissions for us in your Microsoft tenant." and he replied "Everything you just said sounds like gibberish to me." Just a reminder that

Here is one of those curveballs that life throws. I've been running my business for 5 years out of my home but recently my house insurance broker got tipped off that I had commercial vehicle insurance with them and they revoked my house insurance! I've spent the last month

An old co-worker and pal called me up because he needed some help with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and he said I was the expert. Uhh, oh yea but I haven't touched it in 6 years. I had to ask him questions like "There are a couple of config files right? Something like

A bunch more stuff arrived for our warehouse installation. 3x boxes of Cat6 CMR, 2x 24-Port PoE switches and a couple of SFP+ modules for fiber uplinks. We are building a Unifi network with Unifi Protect security and my guy already mounted the UNVR and one of the I-Beam racks,

We need to recognize the fallacy of infinite progress. People will say if there isn't an ultimate end goal to everything then nothing matters. But every possible end-state simply begs the question of what purpose that state serves. Meaning is what happens in the present not the

I don't believe in useful fictions. If we start to think that some lie is useful it signals more corruption in our world-view. The lie is only useful because it fits into a system of lies.

The history of slavery in the US is complex. It seems like prior to 1640 most slaves were indentured servants of both European and African descent. Indentured servants - even of African origin - could earn their freedom after a contracted term of slavery. This is how many

A big part of my business has been developing bespoke apps for one of my clients, but now with AI website-builders he figured out he can do it himself without knowing how any of the code works. Consequently business has been declining and my developer has given me notice that
