Knausgaard has the most anonymous signature of any writer I own a book signed by. I paid £1.50 for it second hand, but if I'd bought it new, I reckon I'd think blimey, I could have done that myself. A memorable first book of an outstanding sequence, though.

3/3 Lady Anne Bacon, who died in 1616. Her memorial is by Nicholas Stone, and she shares it with her husband. Other memorials include figure brasses, one of which Mortlock thought 'the best post-Reformation brass in England'. More: suffolkchurches.co.uk/redgrave.htm #SuffolkSeptember30

The Virgo Lactans, an image of the Blessed Virgin breastfeeding the Christ Child. A roundel of fragmentary 15th Century glass in St Nicholas's Anglican Cathedral, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, photographed back in July. It's the only surviving medieval glass in the church.
