Dawn breaks across the Sussex rail network. And it’s a drive to Portsmouth & Southsea to start. Up to Horsham, back to Portsmouth Harbour, return to Horsham and down to Bognor. A lovely day to be on the rails

The “snooker train” 377147 stands at Littlehampton with 377411 on the rear. I’m about to take this as 1H39 as far as Gatwick Airport

First time onto the platform at Billingshurst today as my 1B37 terminates here due to engineering works between here and Three Bridges. Now for the 44 minute wait to work 1B34 back down to Barnham

Early morning at platform 1 at Barnham station. In front of my 377157 awaits the road to form the 05:17 to Southampton. I then follow as 5C07 empty to Havant

Now sat in the sunshine at Barnham waiting for my next train, 1N21 to Brighton. Then it’s a Portsmouth & Southsea return journey to end my shift

A grey and murky morning in Barnham as 377324 stands at platform 3 with a service to Brighton. I’ve just taken one into Bognor and now about to work the 09:26 Victoria service as far as Horsham

A dull start to Tuesday, made brighter by this green and blue combo at Portsmouth & Southsea. I’m about to take 377404 bound for Victoria as far as Horsham

Back at work and back on nights. Today I’m the night driver at Littlehampton depot making sure trains are clean, prepared and where they need to be ready to enter service on Monday morning

I’ve just driven 377135 from Littlehampton station to the depot. A fault with the coupler has been reported so work is now underway assessing that. Notice the ‘Not to be Moved’ board. This tells everyone that cleaning staff/engineers are on this unit.

Under the lights at Portsmouth Harbour tonight as a freshly repainted 377101 is going through final preparations to form the 19:04 to London Victoria. I take it as far as Barnham. This unit was the first unit I ever drove whilst in the training school #memories
