One of my all-time favourite ads. Having positioned Southern Comfort as ‘the drink from New Orleans’ for many years, in 2012 the company and its new agency W+K had a rethink. ‘Whatever’s Comfortable’ captured a blissful disregard for what others may think of you. #advertising

Today is (hopefully still) Women's Equality Day in the US, commemorating the 1920 certification granting women the right to vote. Reminded me of this 2018 campaign for Stabilo highlighter pens. As the saying goes, 'Behind every great man is a great woman'. #advertising

On this day in 1883 the Indonesian island of Krakatoa erupted, causing cataclysmic destruction and producing the loudest sound ever recorded in history. I recently came across this 2012 Seat ad from Romania. 'Volcano' was created by OgilvyOne, Bucharest. #advertising

On this day in 1963, 200,000 people marched on Washington, D.C., and Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. When Obama was elected in 2008, MLK's dream came true (briefly). The day after the election, Montreal newspaper The Gazette ran this ad. #advertising

On this day in 1963, some 200,000 people marched on Washington, D.C., an event that became a high point of the civil rights movement, especially remembered for Martin Luther King, Jr.’s incredible “I Have a Dream” speech. youtube.com/watch?v=smEqnn…

This 2005 South African ad for Virgin Atlantic is glorious. Complete with Bee Gees soundtrack, it won all the awards - Cannes Lions, Clios, and Shots Magazine, in its 100th anniversary issue, rated ‘Love Story’ as “One of the best commercials of all time”. #advertising

This new ad for Irn-Bru stars Scottish schoolboy Davis Harvey, who had no acting experience when he responded to an email from his local community club in Glasgow. The ad brings back the brand’s classic slogan, “Made in Scotland from Girders”. #advertising

One of a series of terrific ads from 2005 for AppealNow.com (a website designed to help people appeal against unfair parking tickets). Created as viral ads by creative team was Alan Cinnamond and Sandy Cinnamond - the campaign won a Gold Lion at Cannes. #advertising

Many called out this 2010 Parle Agro “Lost Bushmen” ad campaign for its LMN drink as offensive and racist, and ordered its withdrawal. The company claimed that the bushmen were “specially flown in from Africa”, but critics claimed they appeared to be in blackface. #advertising

Holly sh*t this is strong work. Took me a moment, then it hit me, made me gasp. It’s a powerful message from Bravehearts, an Australian child protection organisation. Based on a simple compelling fact - 79% of child sexual abuse survivors knew their abuser. #advertising

I’ve always loved this campaign for Federal Express, created (I think) in the early '80s by Ally & Gargano, FedEx’s longtime advertising agency (who made the incredible ‘Fast Talker’ TV ad - “When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight”). #advertising
