This week we are reading…

Our pumpkin patch is very popular!

“It’s half full”. “Mine is heavy!” “I’m making a scary potion!”

This morning children have been writing their own setting descriptions from The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. 📚

We are bubble painting! We can blow into the paint to create large and small bubbles. “Watch me blow!”

This week we have been learning about a very special celebration called Diwali. The children have been colouring, drawing and filling their own Rangoli patterns.

We rolled and pinched our salt dough to create our very own Diya lamps. We are looking forward to painting them later this week.

During our outdoor time, the children created their own Mehndi designs using the juice from berries and thin paint brushes. We love to learn about different celebrations and traditions.

We love to work as a team in Reception and help others. A very kind friend built a boat using the crates. First stop? The ice cream shop!

“Pumpkin pumpkin, big and round!”

We have been inspired by our focus story and became chefs this afternoon. We listened to instructions and we were very careful cutting the vegetables, using the ‘bridge hold’. Our pumpkin soup smells delicious.

This afternoon we decorated our Diya lamps. We used colourful paint and sequins. We have loved learning about Diwali this week.

Looking at events during the Rise of Hitler. We looked at cause and affect and how one event led to others. Discussion was brilliant around this!

Using map skills to locate The Gambia as part of our study on the impact of climate change on farming across the world. This focus was drought.

We ended our half term with homemade Pumpkin soup, crusty bread and toasted pumpkin seeds around the fire.
