The Shepherd School is excited to announce the appointment of Marianne Gedigian, a seasoned international concert flutist and widely respected music educator, as professor of flute starting July 1, 2023.

Thanks to a generous friend, the Shepherd School has been lent a Stradivarius violin, also known as the 1687 Kubelik. Graduate student Clara Saitkoulov is this year's recipient of this fine instrument. Read full article: bit.ly/3GSHjr1

The Shepherd School is saddened to hear about the passing of Spanish architect Ricardo Rofill who designed Alice Pratt Brown Hall (completed in 1991). Mr. Rofill passed away at age 82.

Shepherd School alumna Germaine Franco (BM '84) was nominated for a 2022 Oscar in the Best Original Score category for “Encanto.”

It is with a sense of profound and bitter loss to share that Larry Rachleff, longtime conductor of Rice’s symphony and chamber orchestras, passed away on Aug 8 after a long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family.bit.ly/3bLCSEr
