1. Show me the bill that creates this magic palliative care and pain management you speak of. 2. Look my 90 year old grandmother in the eye and tell her that her daughter who died of aggressive, brutally painful pancreatic cancer she just needed more pain management. #nvleg

.Governor Joe Lombardo's bill would increase costs for the Nevada Department of Corrections by $42.2 million in future biennium, according to a fiscal note. NDOC currently has a staffing shortage and $53 million budget hole. nevadacurrent.com/2025/04/09/lom…

When someone seeks medical care in prison, they’re expecting treatment. But the reality is that even basic care can lead to crippling debt. Medical co-pays, prescription rates, and treatment fees are so high that they actively discourage people from seeking the care they need.

Great piece that shows what we are up against. Police oppose bill meant to encourage sex workers to call 911 if they are victims of crime nevadacurrent.com/2025/05/15/pol…

Nevada's SB 88 would eliminate medical debt upon release, removing a huge burden off families and significantly cutting government waste. Right now the state spends its limited time and resources to collect less than .0008% of out standing debt annually. It’s time to end this

🚨 Big win in Nevada: SB 88 passed the Senate! This bill would end a broken practice that buries people in medical debt—hurting families, wasting gov. money, and making it harder to meet court obligations like restitution. 🧵👇

This is what support for the roll back of a decades worth of reforms looks like. Evidence based reforms that have reduced our prison population and brought the states crime rate down.

Last day of #nvleg. Gov's crime bill is a MESS. The FIRST hearing on it was a few days ago in the FIRST HOUSE, we still have no actual language to review, NOBODY knows the $$$ impact, and while framed to help small biz the bill now expands the power of STRIP RESORTS. What a mess.

This year, FFJC was proud to help end Nevada’s harmful practice of saddling returning citizens with medical debt upon release — eliminating a major barrier to reentry. For years, this debt drained critical resources from already vulnerable communities. 🔗 tinyurl.com/ycxmh2h7
