Interesting new study… pun intended. Triggering learners’ interest in a topic may make them overconfident and changes study behaviours. #AcademicTwitter #education #edchat psycnet.apa.org/record/2021-75…

Principle of effective assessment #4. Develop autonomous learners through encouragingĀ self-generated feedback, self-regulation, and reflection. One effective method is peer review, where students generate feedback for other students.

Do any of you wonderful people have advice on how to work when you’re away from home? Currently trying to figure it out from a hotel and it has NOT gone well. #AcademicTwitter #work #AcademicChatter

PhD tip #23. Don’t be afraid of mistakes. Researching test effects has taught me that our cognitive architecture is geared towards learning from mistakes. We progress most when we try and fail and are provided feedback which teaches us how to succeed. #AcademicChatter #phdchat

Good news: our UK visas are approved! One step closer to actually moving 😃. Bad news: the spicy flu finally got us. We’ve been wearing masks and physically distancing, but there’s no such thing as 100% protection. So far our COVID has been very mild šŸ¤’.

I’ll say that we don’t need anecdote to know that #vaccines work, there’s more than enough real research. But our experience so far is that although we weren’t protected from infection, we’ve definitely had it very easy in terms of severity. Glad to be triple dosed, bring on #4!

Guys! It’s official. We’ve booked our tickets to #London. May 9th. We’re outta here. Nervous and excited for the next year. Hard to believe we’re actually going😬!

We’ve arrived in #London! New home for a year. I already miss my family and friends, but being overseas for the first time in nearly three years feels great.

Hi everyone, short update. I’m starting a new post-doc at UCL, in the Research Department of Medical Education (RDME). Looking forward to some applied research and evaluating how medical education is recovering post-pandemic. Wish me luck! #AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

Happy to share our latest (open) publication! We evaluate whether the benefit of testing on future learning is due to a change in student study strategy, favouring greater use of conceptual organisation. We find this is unlikely to be the case. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
