We have two pieces of awesome news to share this Earth Day. Firstly, thanks to our partners Sharing Excess, we have rescued enough food this year to divert 164 million pounds of CO2 from reaching the atmosphere - that’s the equivalent of taking 17,854 cars off the road!’

I toured Sharing Excess food rescue operation at the Phila Wholesale Produce Market today. They’re reducing food waste & food insecurity by redistributing fresh food to our communities. We discussed additional partnership opportunities w/ social services orgs across our region.

Volunteering is the backbone of our communities. It was a pleasure to do so with First Lady Lori Shapiro, PA Department of Agriculture Chairman Russell Redding and others at Sharing Excess. Their efforts are critical for connecting hungry families with healthy food and reducing food waste.
