NEW preprint: Shivam Gandhi in our lab shows cardiac fibrosis in a young mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy occurs in 2 of 4 chambers. Why not all 4? Remarkably, this fibrosis is completely prevented by a novel adiponectin receptor agonist ALY688. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We just uploaded our next preprint on cancer-cachexia. Shahrzad Khajehzadehshoushtar discovered 'the mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant SkQ1 prevents mitochondrial-linked apoptosis but not necroptosis or skeletal muscle atrophy in ovarian cancer' ...why is apoptosis active?

Our 3rd new manuscript this week: Luca Delfinis, PhD found a mitochondrial-targeted compound partially prevents muscle weakness without preventing atrophy in ovarian cancer. This opens a new direction for therapies targeting muscle ‘quality’. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
