There are ways to prepare for this. I’m happy to help anyone I can. We left the UMC in 2019 - before there was a way out.

I hope there’s more of this. Fight the good fight for your building. Exercise all your legal options without breaking the bank. Then walk away, shake the dust off your feet, and plant a new congregation in a more faithful denomination. Meet in a school gym or wherever. #UMC

They just want their building and a reasonable way out of a denomination that has moved away from them theologically and morally. Some will eventually decide to leave their buildings. #UMC

I wonder if any churches who were denied a reasonable opportunity to disaffiliate will decide to sue their annual conference to challenge the #UMC trust clause. Surely there are already some lawsuits pending. Congregations who want to leave should be allowed to.

This happened in a number of annual conferences (if churches were given the chance to leave at all.) And there will be a reckoning.
