book 34: Happenstance by Tessa Bailey
Ok. First off. I had NOFUCKINGCLUE this book was 87% porn. It was in the new books section of the library and the cover looked cute. I skimmed the back. Kk. Read it on the train and almost had. A. Situation.
Secondly: 💦💦💦💦💦🚬

Once I realized what I had, and how fucking fuuuuuck-me-good the author was, honestly, I didn’t need the non-porn thriller bits. And definitely not the wrap-it-up, HEA epilogue but then again… how do you end that much porn without it being weird? It’s gotta have some ending!

book 35: Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan
This was a weird little group of short stories. It felt like something I could write, if I had the author’s ability to edit the weird little stories in my brain. Plus! The doodles were fantastic.

book 36: Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett
Not my usual (ye olde times) but velvet soft cover, library new books section, and sci-fi/fantasy…
It was a delight. Enchanting! If there weren’t the almost scary parts, I’d tell my kid to read it too.

book 37: Toucan Keep a Secret by Donna Andrews
I quite enjoyed this murder mystery. I almost didn’t guess the murderer. Almost.
Though I’m a little bit sad I’m almost all done with this author’s books.

book 38: Tales of the Peculiar by Ransom Riggs
Thoroughly enjoyed this book of short stories told in a way that felt like an elderly familiar spinning yarns around a campfire. My fav is The First Ymbryne about a badass birdwoman named Ymeene who creates time loops.

book 39: Death Comes To Marlow by Robert Thorogood
This was a damn fine murder mystery. Which makes sense considering the author’s first book last year (Marlow Murder Club) was fantastic! I love the main characters — four women of varying ages (40s-70s) and setting.

And the storytelling of course. As I was reading, the Who? in the whodunnit was still a mystery but kept shouting (in my head) the How? grand finale. Still, quite enjoyable.

book 40: Scot in a Trap by Catriona McPherson
This murder mystery got real, real good& and twisty at the end but def not for certain folks bc unexpected historical sexual assault. Aside from that 😮☹️, the thing I found most offensive was the use of ‘’ instead of “”.

book 41: The Golden Spoon by Jessa Maxwell
For fans of Clue and GBBO! This was excellent murder mystery with an ending I’m delighted to say I got fully wrong.
