When I was a young girl the schools in my area were closed during Massive Resistance to stop Black students from getting an education. Seven decades later I am in the arena in Chicago as we nominate the first Black Woman who will serve as President of the United States.

My heart is exploding in pride and joy as Kamala Devi Harris prepares to accept our nomination as the next President of the United States!!!

History is in the books and now we all head home to spread Kamala’s message of joy in our communities until we have secured victory this November. Everyone- register someone you know, talk to an undecided voter you know and help turnout someone who needs that final push to vote.

Today is the 61st anniversary of one of the most consequential speeches in American history. Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech was a rallying cry for the civil rights movement. I am proud to be a lifelong participant in the fight to fully realize Dr King’s dream.

With Governor Glenn Youngkin cell phone ban in schools, my daughter told me she needed to keep hers w/ her at all times so she can text me she loved me if/when a shooter enters her classroom. Ironically, Youngkin vetoed gun bills, but banned phones. We don’t have to live like this. #ENOUGH
