188 years ago today, General Sam Houston led 800 courageous Texans to fight and ultimately win their freedom at the Battle of San Jacinto.

This final battle of the Texas Revolution lasted 18 minutes.

Louis Conter, the final survivor of the USS Arizona from the Pearl Harbor attack, has passed away at the age of 102.

He was on watch on December 7, 1941, during the assault on the US Pacific fleet, which resulted in the loss of over 2,000 American servicemen.
