We're bringing more improvements for NXP LS1028A support in #FreeBSD. This time the newly created Ethernet driver (ENETC) along with MDIO controller driver. Included is iflib support too. github.com/freebsd/freebs… github.com/freebsd/freebs…

From tinyurl.com/5fvckraj: "ACPI support for some MDIO, MAC and PHY devices from Marvell and NXP (our first foray into MAC/PHY description via ACPI)" Super-tight schedule for Marvell part, but eventually all queued for v5.14! Great milestone - now time to tackle the DSA :)

Just WOW! All-upstream SolidRun MacchiatoBin firmware (by Semihalf) was capable to handle Windows 11 (version 22000.168) install out of the box... NATIVELY! GPU (GT630 via EFI Frame Buffer), SATA SSD, network (USB2ETH), mouse & keyboard.

Nice outcome of Semihalf internship program - FreeBSD has just recently gained ability to parse ACPI's _DSD. In other words it's now very easy to handle DT/ACPI properties with the same generic code - result: Marvell Technology SoCs' SD/MMC controller working with ACPI in HEAD.

Thanks to our recent work (cutt.ly/TRglLZy, cutt.ly/YRgl0sq, cutt.ly/5RgzyoE), the stack gap information can be properly passed from FreeBSD Project kernel to the user space. This should hopefully pave the way to enable the ASLR feature by default in HEAD

After some experimenting and (with one mesa trick from Jon Nettleton (@[email protected])) the xfce4 desktop runs on the unmodified latest FreeBSD Project 14-CURRENT snapshot. So arm64 (CN913x CEx7 Eval Board) with ACPI + AMD GPU + bunch of standard packages proved to work just fine altogether.

Big news out of the Arm and Cambridge Computer Science collaboration today as Arm announced its experimental CHERI-enabled Morello processor and development board is now available for testing. #FreeBSD played an essential role in bringing this technology to life. ow.ly/76ms50HyZ6l
