Delighted to launch this report, busting one of the biggest myths in British politics. The public doesn't see public health intervention as 'the nanny state'. In fact, they want bolder action - incl among key swing voters. This has major implications for policy & politics. 🧵

Really important work from Institute for Fiscal Studies. Clearing big elective backlogs is vital over the course of this parliament, but it won’t be the key route for keeping people in work. Much more thinking needed on health support required to help reduce benefit claims.

Many of their mistakes come down to being afraid to upset key parts of their voter coalition. If there’s anything that I’ve learnt from being part of focus groups with Reform-leaning voters, it’s that inaction is a far greater risk than controversy.

The announcements made in today's White Paper will require urgent reform in adult social care. Ultimately, reducing reliance on international care workforce may not be a bad thing, but we won't get there overnight and we certainly won't have time to wait for Casey.

Great to have this out today, written by my brilliant colleagues Amy Gandon and Jamie O'Halloran đź’Ş If Government is serious about pivoting to prevention, getting a grip on the poor state of children's health is the best place to start!

Hugely thought provoking report from my brilliant colleague Parth Patel on the future of progressive politics in a rapidly changing world. Do give it a read and share thoughts! 👇
