Zootopia in the Sicilian Channel: a young shortfin mako and bluefin tuna were best buddies Pantelleria banks. They were swimming together and checking out our bait canister. The #WSCS21 continues after this peculiar encounter in one of our #BRUV deployments.

Our team landed in Pantelleria on June 16 after finding the presence of a Mako shark in a nearby channel. Here’s to getting closer to hopefully finding the White shark! #WSC21

They are sparse, but we are sniffing them! We can detect white shark DNA suspended in water samples in 4 hours - from sampling to results - with smartphone-size thermocyclers and gel runners connected via Bluetooth. #wsc21 #eDNA
