Seacamp recently hosted researchers from Shedd Aquarium in Chicago under the direction of Dr. Steve Kessel. The team is studying the physiology of ‘tonic immobility’, a sleep-like response that sharks exhibit when turned upside down🦈

New research exploring the physiology of tonic immobility in sharks was recently conducted at (and with support from) Seacamp Association, Inc., on Big Pine Key, FL, in collaboration with Bimini Biological Field Station Foundation. More to follow on this exciting new study

Today's alumni highlight takes us back into the realm of Chondrichthyes with 'Why Sharks Matter'. David Shiffman, camper/staff alum, is currently on a book tour promoting the plight of sharks. He references Seacamp's role in his career path in both the book and his talks.
