This Christmas season Mrs. Speed’s class took on the challenge of adopting two elder angels. The children made & sold items to raise money for the elder angel gifts. Today they delivered the gifts and decorated the doors at the Denison Manor nursing home.

Eighteen stellar spellers from SMS met in the DISD Administration Board Room yesterday to compete in the 2026 District Spelling Bee! After 6 rounds, Olivia Lowery captured the title by successfully spelling the word muffler. Evan Bernier was the Runner-Up.

Our Unstoppable Athletes Basketball Skills Competition took place Thursday at SMS, and it was nothing but smiles, teamwork, and big-time heart. Huge shoutout to Mrs. Beal-Martin’s and Mrs. Alvarado’s team, our incredible athletes, and our amazing Scott Scholars!

Huge thanks to our amazing PTO for sponsoring a pizza luncheon that made everyone’s day extra tasty. We are so grateful for the support, generosity, and heart our PTO shows our campus. This lunch was served with a side of happiness—and every slice was enjoyed!

Today we celebrate National School Resource Officer Day and give a big, heartfelt thank-you to Officer Kevin Galyon! Officer Galyon does so much more than keep our campus safe—he builds trust, shows up for students, and brings calm, care, and consistency every single day.

Yesterday was a big day for our SMS students — DHS Tour Day! Walking the halls of Denison High School gave our students a sneak peek at what’s ahead — new classes, new opportunities, and maybe even a future parking spot they’re already mentally claiming.

Next week, we will kick off a week focused on kindness lead by our Peer Helpers! Our goal is to spread kindess this week and make it a daily habit of showing kindness throughout our lives! The Great Kindness Challenge Dress Up Days begin Monday, February 23rd!
