Meet the herd! 🐐 Goats are selective feeders and are able to target the leaves and flowering parts of plants – such as gorse flowers. Goats will also bark strip a range of trees, making them perfect for controlling scrub invading into grassland areas. x.com/ScillyWildlife…

Scilly has a Seabird and Seal Sanctuary on the island of Annet. Boat operators offer trips to see wildlife across Scilly, though Annet is closed. There are guided kayak wildlife tours around Annet from the WiSe accredited St Agnes Watersports, though please never land on Annet pic.x.com/32uVwQ4Ixz

What a lovely way to spend last week, checking the intensive surveillance grid on St Agnes in the Scilly Isles. The community, Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust,RSPB & the South West Rapid Incursion Response team have been checking it since November when suspicious mouse signs were found

Thankfully no sign of mouse since November despite 10 weeks searching for chew marks, camera footage & footprints in tracking tunnels. RSPB & Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust have now taken all the equipment back in & checked everything is ready for the future.

Thanks to the St Agnes community for their vigilance, land access & for their help checking the incursion response grid. Biosecurity on a seabird island only works when everybody is vigilant, you can play your part by checking for invasive predator signs during your next trip.
