It's Jan 21st, which means it's Tetrapod Zoology's birthday. It's now been going for... 16 years. Thanks to those who read #TetZoo and support me in what I do. No time yet for the usual birthday article, but it's coming when time allows. 2021 was packed, here are a few images...

Dear UK Government, ps work with councils to create more allotments. With 90,000 people on waiting lists, some set to wait 40 years, there are massive potential benefits for health, communities, wildlife, biodiversity, and producing fresh food without packaging & food miles 🐝

Sounds a great story. I can imagine there will be lots of new stories of community action & citizen science around sewage pollution generated recently. Sons of Neptune: Scarborough sewage rebels head for the big screen bbc.co.uk/news/entertain…

If you've left dead plants in your garden over the winter, to provide sheltered spots for hibernating ladybirds and lots of other creatures, please do leave them a little while longer until spring is underway 🐞 #wildlife #gardening #nature

Due to recent press reports linking the common dolphin found on Hove beach to shark attack, we wish to be clear there is no evidence to support this. No injuries consistent with shark attack & the head of the dolphin, which was reported to be missing, was intact, but decomposed.

Ah, the beautiful butts of the sea. A few weeks ago, some twitter folks saw the news about a new marine worm that had 100 or more butts. We decided to collaborate on this comic. My co-conspirators here are Dr Maureen Berg and @americanbeetles. #invertebuttweek

Why why why?!Planting flowers at the base of trees helps pollinators, reduces flooding and looks beautiful. No more tarmacked trees please! #depaving #savethebees #Southsea #environment #nature

Never mind that it was in the wrong place (!!), I'm making a note of its shape in case it comes up in Worldle (I struggled with this morning's island)
