Another library joins the OtF backlist subscription/frontlist OA program Central European University Press ! The press has been able to fund 25+ new OA books already with same (& more again) still to come, all thru OtF. Non-BPC models work when libraries can get behind them.

'A 2023 British Academy survey of SHAPE learned societies revealed pressures from Read & Publish deals to publish more articles in their journals, threatening academic integrity/quality.' Good point but this is a feature of commercial publishing. OA doesn't have to be this way.

"Is it so outrageous, when awarding over a billion pounds of public funding, to insist that a mere 1.7% of it is spent to ensure the public can see the results?" 🔥🚒🧯

Initiatives like Open Book Collective can help securing a more sustainable future of OA books and democratizing the model to allow all publishers to access it 🤝 #alpsp2024
