This weekend we are honored to help host an event with The Karuk Tribe & Nature rights council to celebrate the return of traditional canoes to the mid #klamathriver. This project was inspired by our former board member Aawok Grant Gilkison who family helped make it happen.

Tribal member and community organizer Grant Gilkison, decided to champion efforts to get a Tribal dugout canoe made. His vision of bringing canoes back to Karuk country began with securing funding for sugar pine logs to build three boats in 2019. tinyurl.com/KarukCanoe
