Why the symbiotes in Spider-Man 2 are explicitly pure evil, an unnecessarily lengthy thread.

I've seen recent attempts at defending this Venom by comparing the unintentionally ambiguous (shallow) characterization to his more complex comic counterpart. I find it ultimately self defeating as a defense because the symbiotes are clearly meant to be evil in nature.

The most popular defense I've seen is that the symbiote tries to help Harry achieve his goal, but in a twisted way. Truthfully, the symbiote does not want to be helpful. The meteor was explicitly labeled as a 'seed' by Connors. It was meant to spread biomass from the very start.
