Our own Sarah du Plessis unboxing her very first wolf skull borrowed as part of our DFF-funded project DOG-ROOTS. We will now CT scan it and add it to our growing linked genome-phenome dataset of canids to look for signatures of domestication. #detfrieforskningsraad
Lab outing to Bastard Café where we learned about birds by playing Wingspan. Or rather, my students learned while I pretended to understand the rules.
I am recruiting a PhD student CAGToulouse in association with my ERC project anthropYXX. Palaeogenomics, bioinformatics and gender archaeology. More information here: euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/232339 Université de Toulouse UT3 Paul Sabatier CNRS Occitanie Ouest
Last week at Globe Institute, we hosted the "Evolutionary Modelling with SLiM" workshop by Ben Haller. 40 scientists from 14 countries learned about this amazing tool! Thanks to my co-host Bárbara Parreira, Carlsbergfondet for funding, and Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics for their support.
Excited to share some Otter Project and otter genomics work at the IOSF #WorldOtterDay webinar tomorrow morning!
Today is #WorldOtterDay, a day to raise awareness and support for otter conservation globally. Here are two otters from Amgueddfa Caerdydd which we use in outreach events and exhibitions to highlight otter conservation
Really enjoyed hearing about the importance of Hologenomics in biodiversity and conservation at the Applied Hologenomics Conference 2024 yesterday 🧬🦠
Ever wondered about woolly mammoth jerky? Huge congrats to Juan A. Rodríguez and co-authors on such a cool paper!
Congratulations/Llongyfarchiadau to our Otter Project 2024 graduates! Sarah du Plessis (second right), completed her PhD using new genomic tools to assess the impact of the population bottleneck on the genetic health of Eurasian otters in Britain and across Europe and Asia.
A blurry bbq night for the EvoMorphoLab! Thanks Stine Keibel Blom Merin Joji Sarah du Plessis Ricardo Ely, PhD for the great picture!
