Great look at the school contracts being presented to athletes in anticipation of House settlement approval. College athletes already meet the legal test for employment. These contracts reinforce that. Athletes need representation to negotiate these. espn.com/college-sports…

The cost of doing nothing is real….This is just the beginning. Only one solution — a collectively negotiated partnership between the athletes & the schools. Until then — the schools (not the ncaa or conferences) will get waterboarded with more lawsuits, holdouts, etc.

Just popping onto X today to say that the way to “fix” situations like this that administrators seem to be so upset about is collective bargaining. That’s not an opinion. Thats how salary caps and free agency restrictions are legal in this country. But the NCAA won’t do it.

Said it plenty before but it would be irresponsible, let alone irrational to allow the organizations who've created these messes to begin with to be solely responsible for developing the solutions, let alone getting them rubber stamped by Congress. Get more adults in the room.

Congratulations, John (and Sharie!). Known and loved the Montgomery family for a long time, and happy to see John hit his well-earned retirement after many years of success. (and it was fun to hang out with them this weekend and celebrate this milestone a little early😉)

AO announces that its leaders presented to 24 power conference general managers on Sunday in Nashville their plan for collective bargaining - a similar presentation they’ve socialized with coaches & ADs. All GMs support a version of a CBA in college football, AO says.

The legislation in the SCORE Act would provide serial antitrust violators with unprecedented antitrust protection, allowing the hard-fought rights college athletes have been able to claw back through courts and state law to be rolled back, and other rights some are currently

In a meeting earlier today in front of many Congressional Black Caucus members, representatives from the NFLPA and Athletes(dot)org urged them to vote against the SCORE Act. Roughly an hour later, the SCORE Act was removed from the House floor schedule.

Absolutely heartbroken about this news. James was the heart and soul of UNC Athletics and a dear friend to all. What I would give to hear him call me "Sayruh James you babydoll" one more time. He will be so missed. I already miss him.
