Happy Solstice! This was after we declared the Rights of the River Cam at Jesus Green with Friends of the River Cam on Friday evening. Gorgeous evening but shameful how much E-Coli is present in the water behind me!

"Poverty is a political choice." Very proud to support the manifesto behind the Cambridge City Foodbank at their Hustings this week. We need to raise the amount of Universal Credit because it doesn't cover basic essentials; Greens will push the government to raise it by £40 pw.

Our waterways face unprecedented challenges, through government cuts coinciding with the impact of climate change. As the Cambridge MP I would: -        support local waterway groups -        press for a review of inland waterway funding. Fund Britain's Waterways and #FundBritainsWaterways

As a candidate in this election, I know that PR is a doorstep demand. I am happy to make a #PledgeForPR to help make this the last UK general election run under the First Past the Post system. Make Votes Matter After all, we would have 11 MPs already under PR!!

Happy New Year one and all! I have started off the year by supporting the Hills Road sixth form teachers for the last three days that they have been on strike. Today Daniel Kebede, the General Secretary of the National Education Union, came to support local teachers.

Our local Hills Road sixth form teachers are striking because the 5.5 per cent pay award for teachers from the government does not apply for members at non-academized sixth forms, whereas Long Road (academy) teachers do get the pay rise. Oversight or neglect?

A genocidal militia in Sudan is killing and starving 500,000 civilians, while international aid is being slashed. I signed to urge the EU to step up and increase humanitarian help #Zamzam #Sudan secure.avaaz.org/campaign/en/st…
