Before (R) and after (L) photo showing coseismic coastal uplift (~4m) at Wajima City as a result of the M7.6 earthquake at Noto Peninsula Japan. A local resident says “the tide has not returned”. Reminds me of what we saw after 2016 M7.8 Kaikōura. Thanks for sharing Hoshitaro 🙏

Yesterday another Spotter wave buoy was added to the Canterbury Wave Monitoring Network offshore of Pareora, south of Timaru. Thanks to PrimePort for collaboration and deploying the buoy. It is exciting to see the network grow! Free live wave data here: canterburywaves.co.nz

Some very good seawall, nature-based solutions, and beach profile times in GEOG201 labs this week. Students have been hypothesing change and then testing it in the UC mini wave tank/flume. Thanks to UC Science | Te Kaupeka Pūtaiao SEE staff for helping set this up #science #waves
