Yesterday we went to the @CascadePBS Board of Directors meeting to give the board an update on how bargaining is going. Here’s what we told them. 🧵

📢 BREAKING: Our unit has officially delivered a strike pledge to Cascade PBS Newsroom leadership in response to their most recent unfair proposal. After 8 months of stalled bargaining, they’re still refusing fair wages and benefits. We’re not backing down.

Yesterday we used our lunch break for an informational picket while @cascadepbsnews was giving donors a tour of the building. We hope they can hear us loud and clear: We’re not going to stop until we get the #FairContract we deserve.

We came to the table ready to make a deal during mediation on Wednesday. Cascade PBS Newsroom came unprepared, unserious and totally unwilling to move. This is not what bargaining in good faith looks like. (1/4)

Big news: After nine months of fighting for a #faircontract we’re happy to report that we reached a tentative agreement at the bargaining table with Cascade PBS Newsroom today!! Now we will bring the proposed contract to the unit for a ratification vote.

We did it!!! Yesterday the unit voted unanimously to ratify a new contract that will immediately secure hardworking journalists at Cascade PBS Newsroom an average raise of 6.76% and an average 18.3% wage increase over the course of the four-year contract.

Our lowest-paid members were making less than $64K, and at ratification no one in the unit will be making less than $70K. We also secured additional PTO, doubled severance and stronger worker protections that will make a tangible difference in our members’ lives.

This contract, which was the product of a tough, drawn out fight, wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless support of our community. To everyone who has shown up for us these past 9 months, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. When we fight together, we win.
