I was in Thailand volunteering at an elephant preserve and as one of the Fun Activities they took us out to a corn field to bring in the harvest for the elephants. About 20~ of us tourists, all strong and capable 20ish year olds got RINSED by 3 mahouts.

We had better gear, more people, and less field to pull in. The Mahouts literally had homemade machetes and cigarettes. They brought in 10x what we did in half the time and laughed at us from the truck.
