I love (love love!) riding the ferries around Seattle. I often joke with my son that he could just drop me at a ferry terminal and I'd be happy riding them all day. I especially enjoyed the sunrise on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry on Friday.

While loons were top of my birding wish list for this trip, I was realistic enough to understand that it was unlikely that I'd see one. So it was with much delight that I spotted a group of 10 common loons (which are actually uncommon) on Lake Quinault.

Dungeness Spit is such a picturesque place. The sand spit (the longest natural sand spit in the US and it is growing all the time) juts out for five miles into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. There's a lighthouse at the tip and you can hike out there.

Not what you want to see when you rock up at your wilderness lodge in your EV 😆 It was fine. Wasn't a problem for us. But might be for some.
