Today, was told “You can afford to be political because ur a one-woman show”. Umm Diaspora Co. Spices supports 150+ Indian farm workers. WE take a stand because it’s the right fucking thing to do. Don’t @ me with ur “I’m responsible for people’s livelihoods” crap

I respect Sana Javeri Kadri so much. She posted this to ig today & I think it’s a frank (maybe too honest) accounting of “how we got here” It is in *no way* conclusive, the authors caveat that they assert more than they explain, but I found it useful annebonnypirate.org/2021/08/17/afg…

Wrote about roses in Indian food culture but really about the poetic and powerful Nur Jahan for Whetstone Magazine + Diaspora diasporaco.com/blogs/journal/… Thanks Vidya Balachander :)

Mohabbat hai mirchi! Wrote about Chillies for Diaspora Co. and Whetstone Magazine collaboration, and finally got to work with my favourite food writer Vidya Balachander, who btw is a superb editor too, kind and patient. I'd say she got the best out of me. diasporaco.com/blogs/journal/…

Allison Keene "In a world that entices us ... to in turn feel the need to be constantly visible, for visibility these days seems to somehow equate to success, do not be afraid to disappear from it, from us, for a while, and see what comes to you in the silence." Michaela Coel

This meditation on murunga in our culinary traditions ended up being deeply personal and so much fun to write. Thanks to Vidya Balachander for commissioning it for Whetstone Magazine and Diaspora Co. Spices bit.ly/2ZhXwFL
