Del Mar High School welcomed families, community members, and local leaders to a firsthand look at the school’s dynamic programs and facilities and brand-new Wellness Center dedicated to supporting students' mental health and well-being.​ Thank you to everyone who joined us.

Roosevelt Elementary recently held an Entrepreneur Fair, where students transformed into business owners for the day. Each student developed a business plan, crafted products, and set pricing. The event was a lively marketplace attended by families and friends.

Gabrielino High School's Concert Band and Advanced Orchestra earned gold ratings all around at the Forum Festival held at Irvine High School. Additionally, students Preston Diaz and Kaito Gonzales received Outstanding Musician awards. Congratulations to all.

Roosevelt Elementary School's Speech and Debate team went to the Southern California Junior Forensics League tournament at East Los Angeles College and brought back a bunch of trophies. Way to go! You make us proud.

RockFest at Roosevelt Elementary was a high octane blast of fun after school last week that included an ensemble of 10 student guitarists, a performance by the advanced music students, and even a rocking set of tunes performed by the school's teachers.

We are proud to announce Gabriel Cabrera as the 2025 SGUSD Portrait of an Educator. Mr. Cabrera exemplifies the values SGUSD aims to instill in every student. A dedicated educator at SGUSD since 2006, he currently teaches at Washington Elementary. Thank you for your commitment.

Pamela Larsen, head of security at Jefferson Middle , has been named one of California’s 2025 Classified School Employees of the Year! This prestigious statewide honor recognizes her exceptional leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to student safety and well-being.

Jefferson Middle School hosted an unforgettable Open House filled with food, games, activities, and performances. The event showcased the vibrant and welcoming spirit of our school community, bringing families together for a night of fun while exploring the school and classrooms.

Last week, all five SGUSD elementary schools—Coolidge, McKinley, Roosevelt, Washington, and Wilson—hosted their Open Houses on the same evening. Families enjoyed food, performances, and classroom visits, creating a celebration of learning and community across the district,

Gabrielino High School’s Screamin’ Eagles Marching Band earned the silver medal at the SCSBOA 1A Field Tournament Championships—marking the highest placement in school history! The band also took home the High Music Sweepstakes Award, a testament to their incredible talent.

Beat the heat with this Thursday Throwback to the Spring Fling Dance at Washington Elementary. It was such a fun event thanks to the great folks in the Washington Elementary PTA. It was a wild dance party for students and parents. Those kids can party.
